New location for Eckler's show

Just got this in my mail box....This should be great....

..
Eckler's Changing Date & Location for Annual Corvette Reunion
TITUSVILLE, Florida - November 20, 2006 - Eckler's Corvette of Titusville, Florida after 27 years is changing the date and location for its annual Corvette Reunion. The 28th Annual Corvette Reunion will be on Friday and Saturday, March 30-31, 2007 at Old Town in Kissimmee, Florida.

The new location, according to Michael Wilson, Eckler's V.P. of Sales & Marketing, "is ideal for a car show, with lots of parking plus all kinds of concessions and entertainment for attendees." The event will offer awards in various classes, there will be a manufacturer's midway, a swap meet and as always Eckler's famous scratch and dent sale. For all the previous years, Eckler's Corvette Reunion was held at its Titusville facility during the month of October.

For more information on Eckler's 28th Annual Corvette Reunion, call Cozette Alley at 321-385-1113 or e-mail her at Cozette.Alley@ecklers.net. You can also visit ecklers.com. for show details

Niiiiice, I have gone once or twice to the Ecklers facility for the show, but it was such a long drive that I skipped it most of the years. I think I will go now since it is closer. The "Old Town" property is located in the center of the state which makes it alot closer for alot of people.

It's a big disappointment to me. What makes it any different from any other show in Old Town now, of which there are dozens?

2Vettes 12-06-2006 08:35 PM

Hmmm, that's interesting news. We'll have to see what we're doing the end of March next year...

Their show at the facility got to be pretty boring...When it comes right down to it most shows are all the same..This might be better....or not....:shrug01:

Yes it was. You were stuck in their showroom trying to cool off or you could visit the one and only cafe across the street and HOPE you could even get in the door. There was nothing around. At least at Old Town they can walk the stores, BK and 1/2 dozen other restaurants around, and if you want a room theres alot of hotels within walking distance.

:iagree: It's cool to go to their event but you did sweat your a$$ off there.:ack2: Plus the trip will be shorter coming from the Westcoast:dancer01: I love the change myself:thumbsup:

Been looking for a reason to go back to Kissimmee.

We may just have to see about attending this Reunion!:yesnod:

Shadow 12-11-2006 08:15 AM

I might just put this on my calandar. I stayed away fromt the Ecklers location simply because I didn't want to buy anything from them and I considered it a big shop promotion. Like others said, there is nothing else to do there.

This could be fun! Good people, cars, food, hotels, attractions, short run from anywhere in the state....hell!!!! I'm in love!:rofl1:

How does anyone feel about a caravan over from the bay area?

Lou G 12-11-2006 04:01 PM

Since most of those attending will come from different parts of the state, how about setting something up to meet for lunch or something.
Would really like to meet this crew.

That's got my vote!

It will be further away for me. But this last show was my first and I was very pleased and disappointed at the same time. I was pleased with the number of vendors that were there. I was disappointed to hear that they were not selling anything, just telling you that Eckler's carried it :nonod:
The parking was so tight that you could not leave. I thought about getting an exhaust sytem installed, but could get out to do it.
The food option very very limited and a cool place to get out of the HEAT.:shrug01: Well, that was almost impossible. I think that Old Town will be better if they open up the vendors and get away from only vendors that sell through Eckler's. That isn't a true show when they do that. It's more of an invite to buy from them.
Don't get me wrong. I have and probably will continue to buy some things from Eckler's. But let a car show be a car show. Don't force ECKLER'S down our throat.:hehehe:

ynkedad 12-11-2006 08:34 PM

Time to pick the brains of those who Know!

Is that what the Ecklers "show" is really about, promoting their stuff, not selling at the booth(s)?
What about other vendors, do they sell anything?
Does this show have the same vendors as in all of the shows around here?

SteveK 12-11-2006 08:44 PM

All of the vendors at the Eckler's Show gave you the Eckler's catalog number of anything that you were interested in. You then went inside Eckler's and ordered it. Went back outside to the Will Call door and picked up your merchandise. Only Eckler approved vendors are at the Eckler Show.:nonod:

That's what I hope changes when the change locations.

OK, OK, you broke my arm. I'm buying!!

Man, it would be great to get this group together. :crazy03:

I attended the last Eckler's show and I agree with SteveK. It was hot, just a couple of food vendors and no place to go. I think that Old Town will be much better. I belong to the Cape Kennedy Vette Club and we had about 12 cars there. Some of our members also helped with the judging.

It is to bad they picked that date, as it is the same weekend as the St. Pete Gran Prix and the McDill Air Fest.
This year the Gran Prix will have the ALMS cars running also, which means the Corvette C6R of Pratt & Miller/Chevrolet. Our club is the host Corvette club for the Corvette Coral. Also across the bay in Tampa is the air show at McDill AFB, that will draw 250k people and maybe more.

Yea they should move the car show date. They will probably have a poor turnout b/c of all the other things going on. I know I won't miss the ALMS C6R's racing! The Corvette Corral will be great! Racing over a car show ANY DAY!
If you want to know my feelings on the Aston Martin DBR9's whining about the rules, just look at my avatar!

I must agree that a race will always win out over a car show. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy going to the different shows.
I also agree with you on the whining of the DBR9's. I have always stated that when you build a race car, you know the rules and if you cannot be competitive in the class, then move to a different class, don't relay on the sectioning body to change the rules, such as weight breaks and smaller air restrictions on faster cars. If Chevrolet and Pratt & Miller can build the C6R's that are faster then the DBR9's, then Aston Martin need to do some more homework. You don't see RedBull in F1 get special concessions so they can run with the top three.
I understand why IMSA imposes these different restrictions, but I simply  disagree with them.
I'll now get off my soap box.
:wavey:
