Do You Know How Old Your Tires Are?
Saw something interesting on the news last night you guys may be interested in;
On the side of your tires there are 3-4 numbers preceded by the letters DOT(may be on inside face or outside face of tire - depending on how tires were mounted). For example:
DOT 2304 means tire was built on 23rd week of 2004,
DOT 0489 means tire was built on 48th week of 1999,
Seems some tire dealers have been selling tires as old as 9 years old to unsuspecting buyers. After 4-6 years these tires start to dry rot even though they have never been mounted.
Checked my 05 (C6) and tires were built in 2005
Checked my 07 Nitro and tires were built in 2006
Checked tires on my work truck which I recently bought and they were built in 07
