Installing Sound Deadening kit

Hello everyone, just joined.

Any recommendations for an installer in the Tampa Bay area for a sound deadening kit for my 05 COUPE. I will order the kit but need someone to take out seats, carpets, and door panels to install (& replace :hehehe: )

Thanks in advance

I had my C6 done about 18 months ago. Call Auto XTC at 727-573-1292. Larry French is the owner. His son is Brad. John Wilson is his one and only awesome corvette tech. You will be very pleased. Tell them Mark aka THOR sent you. Address is 4400 118th Ave. North, Suite 305, Clearwater/Pinellas Park area.:thumbsup:
PS: :welcome: to the Forum. I would suggest going to the welcome section and introduce yourself. Lots of friendly helpful folks here. Be warned- folks like to see PICS of your RIDE!!!! :yesnod::yesnod:

Thanks for the great info! BTW did the sound deadening also decrease the heat in the center console and rear compartment?

Some in the center console. Definitely more in the trunk space. I have a vert but would expect the same in a coupe. I can still feel the heat from the center console on a hot day but it is much better than before.

I was going to say the same place. I had mine done there and it was a perfect job. I was very pleased with John's work.

Here are some pics of the removal of the seats and carpet followed by the install of the kit and the replacement of the carpets and such. John took his time and did the install very carefully. If you look at my car now you would never know it was all apart and you cannot see the insulation under the carpet. The sound level dropped some but the heat was a big improvment in my Z06.

The insulation is bet the two reflective surfaces. It's installed right.

It is reflective on both sides. The benefit of that is the heat that does creep through the first layer of foil and into the material between will be reflected back by the second layer as well.

It's hard to tell from internet pictures only, but otherwise it looks pretty good. The kit you are looking at has door panel pieces, and the one I used did not. The price seems pretty similiar if I remember correctly.

Baby all in Pieces

Took it to AutoXTC and John installed - attaching pictures of install in progress, john hadn't gotten to the rear wheel wells yet nor the halo. Back together and everything works! Took it down to St Armand's for a ride and wife said it was a definite improvement (trust her ears, she trained as concert pianist - mine were great too but left ear is going) , sound level more appropriate and no irritating sounds like before. Still hear the motor roar when you go and the heat is what I was mainly concerned about was less, not gone but less and overall the ride just feels better. Wife is happy,I am happy and John was happy with install:dancer01:

Thanks to everyone for the recommendation:wavey:

John's work is as usual awesome awesome awesome. I'm glad it all worked out for you. I didn't do my doors as it didn't come with the kit I purchased. Since my vert is usually topless, I didn't see the need for it. You will definitely notice less cabin heat this summer?:thumbsup:
PS: John is doing some pretty cool mods with LEDs in the engine bay, etc. It's not that expensive and the last silver one I saw looked really cool with the LEDs and won a trophy. Just a thought if you want to spend more money.

It looks good. You have to remember this is a GM product. It is a VERY COOL product but a GM one none the less. If you want a soundproof ride on a cloud you will have to buy some way overpriced exotic like a Rolls or Mercedes or something. These cars are meant to be hot rods and not a super quiet smooth as glass ride. The main benefit should be the reduction of heat and the benefits to your air conditioning in the summer.

Thanks for the feedback: I think hearing the motor roar is a good thing as are the power sounds. Feeling like you are riding in a tin can is not. Mostly I wanted to be able to travel without my stick deodorant melting in my suitcase. BTW some of the bad noise was removed by a wheel alignment.

Interestingly enough, the sound is improved (not necessarily lessened) with the top off.

Even with the insulation, the chicks still check out my ride when I pull up to a stop light.:D
