I tell em NO too, and if they STILL want it, I reluctantly give them a number
that has 1 of the digits off by one. Like if your phone number is 727-736-1276,
I would tell them something like 727-736-1 376. If I'm
ever questioned, I'll tell them I told him the correct number. Either he screwed
up, or the computer did............take your pick. I also tell them to ring it up
as a cash sale so I don't have to use my name or address. Gotta pay cash
when you do that, though..........

I just tell them I don't have a phone.... or when they ask me for an email address I either tell them the same or ask them "What is email?"

Me and my wife were buying something for a Christmas gift at Sears last year and the clerk asked for our phone number. Without missing a beat my wife said"867-5309" from the song 867-5309/Jenny. The clerk typed it in and said Bob somebody and my wife said, "Yeah, that's us", and we paid for it with our debit card, got the receipt and off we went.

I know a lot of folks just make up a number and thats fine .My personal preference is to infer that it's none of their puckin business .

I realize this is a tad off-topic, so bear with me ...
After explaining to the buyer that his credit union's requirements don't sit right with me, he is willing to complete the transaction using good ole U.S. dollars.
I'm glad it's looking like it will work out, because the buyer seems like a real gentleman.
I am and at the same time. I love the car.
Wish for me the outcome that is best.

The clerks at the local Lowe's always ask for a phone number to complete the sale. I then ask them for their home number. Unless they give me theirs, I don't give them mine. Never have any more issues after that exchange.
