2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Horsepower and Torque Numbers Announced
The results are in from the 2009 ZR1's SAE certification: the 376 cubic inch supercharged LS9 V-8 makes 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque.
When the car was introduced in December, we were told to expect specific output of at least 100 hp per liter, of which the engine has 6.2. These numbers certainly make good on that promise, and work out to 103 hp per liter.
Chevrolet says the engine will be the most fuel-efficient 600-plus hp car on the market, a claim we believe since the Corvette Z06 gets a respectable 24 mpg on the highway.
