10"+ of rain today

What a soaker today! I guess it started raining about 330am this morning since it woke me up. I had 7" of rain at 630am, so in about 3 hours time we had 7". Then add another 3"+ and it's still raining.

We had 3" on Tuse and 10"+ today. Kinda looks like last July when i had over 20" for the month.

We got a thunderstorm Monday afternoon...not much rain, but plenty of lightning! When I came home I noticed one of those green telephone box covers laying in the road. I just figured the Embarq guys were working in the area and had dropped one out of their truck. When I got home and turned on the computer it would not log on...said call Embarq, etc. Then I checked the phone...no dial tone. Went back to the phone box cover and saw where it got blown off the box! Lightning strike! All the wires were burnt off the connectors! The inside of the box had melted copper splattered all over it. I call the repair line. Yesterday I saw the Embarq guys working on one of the boxes so I stopped and talked to them. They said it blew up SEVERAL boxes in my area and may be days before they get everyone back on line. I was lucky, mine got fixed the first day!:dancer01:

I must have dodged the bullet on that one. Wouldn't have been the first time I had a lightning strike come down the Comcast cable and fry my network hardware. But fortunately that didn't happen this time.

Wow! Sounds like you're getting most of the rain we missed. The store where I work took a lightning srike which fried our phones and router and one of our printers but we didn't really get much rain.

We just dont have normal weather anymore. Sometimes i go weeks without a drop in the summer and then this last week i had over 14" of rain. Last July was a soaker with over 24" of rain in that one month. We are always stuck with a west wind pattern with the high to our south.

The so called normal pattern is with the high to our northeast and we get a southeast wind flow with afternoon T-storms. For the last 20 years it's been the west wind deal most of the time.
