Charlie's Fish House Restaurant - Crystal River, FL

Connie and I drove down to Crystal River today and had dinner again at Charlie's Fish House (http://www.charliesstonecrabs.com/restaurantinfo.php). The fried shrimp were excellent, of course, and well worth the trip.

If you all get down that way, it's well worth stopping in for a meal.

Hi Rich.

I know that place, last time Tilde and I were in Florida, we spend a day in Crytal River.
Not that much to see but the Best Western next door was ok, and dinning at Charlie's was very much ok. So you see some folks come from very far away to enjoy a meal by Charlie's.

Best regards
Ole from Denmark.

Hmm, never tried the softshell crabs there. Might have to give that a try next time Connie and I get down that way. Being from Maryland, I developed quite a taste for softshell blue crabs!

Oh lordy, my stomach is growling just thinking about them....:hehehe:

Rich next time you come over our way check out the Freezer it's a local hangout that is in Homosassa and they serve up some great steamed shrimp baskets and crab legs at a great price. they are right on the docks the place use to be a old fish house turned into tiki bar restaurant . also check out Pecks Old Cove restaurant it is between Homosassa & crystal river off of Ozella trail right on the water they have good soft shell crab plus the ride out there is great in a vette or bike.

Actually been to Peck's a couple of times to get steamed blue crabs. They still serving them there? I've been getting a hankering BIG TIME for steamed crabs. There was a place (might still be) right in Homosassa on the water where we've gotten steamed crabs in the past. They have a little island near the restaurant with a few monkeys running around on it. Anyway we used to get steamed crabs there, but the last couple of times the crabs weren't all that good and appeared to have been boiled instead of steamed, so we haven't been back there for a while.

I believe they used to be called Charlie's Crab House (must be a lot of people in that area named "Charlie" who have seafood businesses!), but might now be know as the Riverside Crab House....

But I'd certainly take a drive to Homosassa REAL SOON if there were some GOOD steamed crabs to be had. :yesnod:

yeah it's called Riverside resort & rest. now and the island behind it is monkey island.
another place that was really good was margarita grille but they are closed and rebuilding from a fire they had last year it was a total loss.
another one of my favorites is Seagrass pub they are located right on the Homosassa river. great food & atmosphere.

I'm thinking we are going to take a ride down to Peck's when the weather clears up enough. I was checking their website last night and my belly started grumbling for some steamed blue crabs.
