I'll be in Florida this weekend, and need to know some good places to eat on/near the water in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Want to take my wife to someplace that we've never been to, so that leaves it wide open cause we've never eaten in Sarasota/Bradenton. Italian, Mexican, American, Greek..........I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks everyone.............can't get this kind of local flavor on some of the other forums! I'll be at the Ultimate Corvette Party on Saturday. Hope to see a bunch of you there!

I just saw your post and can offer some suggestions. For pure funkiness and slightly weird, try BONES on Anna Maria Island in Holmes Beach (price is reasonable).
For gourmet 4-5 star expensive and yet memorable sunset dining I would suggest the BEACH BISTRO on Anna Maria Island.
The BONEFISH chain owned by the Outback restaurant in Bradenton is a regular hangout for my wife and me. The price is moderate. The fish is fresh and the service is excellent.
The locals here like to go to the Gulf Drive Cafe on Bradenton Beach for breakfast. If you go ask for a chocolate freeze (similar to a milkshake but lighter) as part of your b'fast order.
The SIGN of THE MERMAID is a very popular and moderately priced restaurant in the city Of Anna Maria for dinner.
DUFFY'S or SKINNY's are verey popular hamburger/beer joints for lunch on Anna Maria.
Reservation are a must for Beach Bistro or Sign of the Mermaid.
My wife and I will be at the Ultimate Corvette Party Saturday. Look for a 6'7" bald red head dude and it's probably me! If we can think of other places, we'll be happy to pass it along. I hope to meet you soon. I'm in a 07 MR vert. I hope this helps for a start. Mark

Andy, The Sarasota/Bradenton area covers about 40 miles of coastline and there are hundreds of places to either grab a bite, or make a reservation for a Five Star meal. Where in the area are you going to be? Sarasota or Bradenton?

Mark is the "Unofficial and Underpayed" Tourguide of the CorvetteFlorida Family here in the Sarasota/Bradenton area.

When you see him on Saturday, let him know where you are staying during your visit and I am sure he can point you to a nice snack or a full blown evening with music and dancing.

Later....

:thumbsup::iagree:

He actually arranged the last cruise we all took through Manatee/Sarasota county along the beach.:thumbsup:I've been in Florida all my life and do a lot of work down there and still saw things I hadn't seen before:thumbsup:

There's so much down there.

Take a look at this link:
http://www.groupersandwich.com/

These are all owned by the same group, but each different in thier own right. From very nice dining to I think I'm gonna get sh!tfaced and puke:rofl1:

Love every one of them for what they are.

Also, for "fine" dining, elegant atmosphere, and a great variety of foods, try Marina Jacks:

at the marina in Sarasota at the intersection before you head over the bridge to the islands.

Enjoy and welcome to Florida. I'll be at the UCP also. Slightly "shorter" bald guy with a raggedy torch red 87.

I'm part 2 of the Ninja Turtle duo:thumbsup::lmao:(inside joke)

Andy:
After the UCP Show alot of us have made reservations at Gallagher's Steak House at Channelside on the Water. Its very near the show, about 10 miles and easy to find. They have Valet Parking also. Our reservations are at 7:00pm....Its casual dress. (This is a top quality Steak Place).

Just what Tampa needs-another steakhouse lol

The DryDock
