C5 LED's

Am merle mulling around thought for subtle under hood or under body LED's. would have to be blue to show off the blue motor covers but thought setting it on a white cloud for evening viewing. I realize none of these would even be seen in daylight but might really look nice sitting at an evening show.

I am curious what experiences you nay have had and just generally how you think of LED equipped cars?:shrug01:

Just lay out how you feel. I do want other thoughts. Not everyone sees things as I do and often good stuff is just not done 'cause it wasn't thought of.:crazy03:

Well, I can't say it would be my cup of tea, but it's your car and you should do whatever it is that you want to do with it. Honestly, I can't imagine very many opportunities for me to have my car out at night with the hood popped open, but if things were different, then perhaps I would think differently about it.

My suggestion would be to make sure you have a real strong battery if you plan on running those lights for any extended period of time. And get the lowest current draw lights that you can find that put out enough light to satisfy you.

:iagree: with Rich. It's not my thing but after all it is your car- kinda like the ghost flames are for you but might not be for everyone (they are for me). Enjoy whichever you decide.

Ken, I got white leds to replace interior lights, license plate lights, under hood lights
etc., etc.,etc., I just wanted something that looked "whiter" and the leds filled the bill.
I don't know about the colored ones, but Mark (Thor) has some red ones on his car, and
they don't look too bad at all. As with anything, you can go overboard with them,
but a subtle application, I think, gives your car a little personality and makes it stand
out a bit from the rest. Whatever you decide, it's your car! Personalize it like you
want it!

Subtle LEDs I find are very nice. Although even when they go overkill, it can be fun. I don't have any on the vette, but I toss it around like it's an F1 car, and never sees a car show. On my truck though, I wanted some better lighting for working under the hood and picked up two 21" white LED strips and worked amazing. A simple switch and voila, lots of light under the hood and they draw very very little amperage.

Here's some picks I took of a show car. Would be fun at a night cruise in.

I didn't think that any red or blue colored lights were permitted anywhere on the front of a non-emergency vehicle while in traffic.

I like the look. Mine are to be blue (and again I understand the not for street use) but I think thay look cool. Was thinking about under each fuel rail and maybe a few other places too. We shall see. I appreciate the pics of your
C6 and wish others would post what they've done also. I have no problem with appreciating and learning from others who have walked this path before.

LEDs are only getting cheaper too. It's the control modules that get expensive if you want to have more control over them (turn on and off sections, change colors if available and some even have strobe and other lighting effects).

One of these days I'll be doing a night shoot with three of the C6s that John over at AutoXTC has done. Personally, I think the biggest thing is placing them so you can't see the light source. Once I can see the LED strip, I'm done with that car (unless it's at an angle that you have to get in an odd position to view it, like through the hood scoop on the car above).

Hi Ken, John at Auto XTC did my LEDs for me several months ago anf they are way cool. My Monterrey Red has red leds in the front and rear grills, side grills, wheel wells and about 3 in the engine bay area. Its fun at night and also at the car shows if its getting late. Hope this helps. :NoNo:

Marl I'd love to see a few pics if you could.

Thanks my friend.

I thought I had some pics of THOR with the leds and I realized I don't have pics to do it justice. I will try and take some later for you.

Cool, thanks Mark.

I started laying mine in today and (of course) damaged one so a re-order is in order. I will get some photos up loaded when the project is finished.

I'll await your up dated photos and thanks my friend.
