How long does a "New Post" stay up under, "New Posts"? I check thru out the day and they seem to change hourly. Shouldn't they stay up for at least 12 hours?

I believe they stay up for as long as someone keeps posting in "that" thread, that would be the new post. It shows the new posts in threads that people have posted in since you last visited the site.

It is also only a new post if you have not seen it or if some has added to it since you listed new posts. Afterall, if you asked for new posts and saw it once, after that it is no longer new. You can go to Quick Links and select Today's Posts and get a more complete list.

Hope that helps.

You are right, if I see it than it is no longer a "new post" but what about the other 1,000 or so members? Isn't it still new to them if they haven't seen it? I still think it should stay under that heading for an indeterminate amount of time; say at least 6 hours. That gives more people more time to view it under that heading. Otherwise one has to hunt for it in all those other headings. Therefore, if you didn't search in all those headings everytime you log on, you may miss it.

Just because you see it, doesn't make it go away for everyone else.

The forum server knows you by your user name. It remembers what YOU have seen and knows waht YOU have not seen. If you see a New Post at 8:00AM and then you look again at 9:00AM you won't see it.

But if I log in at 10:00AM, I will see it because for ME it is still a New Post.

Hey we all have our areas of knowledge. Trust me I expand mine on a daily basis.
See you at Old Town :wavey:
