True. I don't even own a cell phone. Sometimes i will do fast burst over a 100mph on a open highway with no cars around, but would never have the guts to try that in a 45mph zone.

Ouch!! They're getting serious! More incentive to just outrun em in my opinion. Especially for the young guys that don't have a grand layin around that they don't know what to do with...or even us OLD guys that don't have a grand layin around! It's too easy to speed with these cars. I passed four cars on hwy 20 a couple of weeks ago while I was going to Destin. The car in front was going 45 in a 55 and no one wanted to pass, so when I saw an opportunity I dropped the CTS V down to second and nailed it. When I shifted into fourth (as I passed the slow poke) it was registering 96 mph on the speedometer! This was with the wife in the passenger seat and my two boys in the back, along with luggage in the trunk. I understand this car has a speed limiter that kicks in at 168 mph! Damn....why bother!?

Did the officer have video? Not that the video makes or breaks the case, I was just curious. Did the Judge see the actual driving or just verbal testimony?

While I don't agree with the high speed (outside say, an open road interstate system), $1000.00 is BS
I know, it's the states way of "getting your attention
It's just another way the state bumps up thier coffers!

There's no reason to tailgate a violator...PERIOD!
It's unnecessary and unsafe.
Many officers I've known over the years, would use the tactic to get the violator to speed up.

I've said it before, and the more I see nowdays, the more I believe it.

Instant on, in car, front and rear facing video and audio is the way to go.
Keep a cell phone handy for the 911 call re: the tailgator, and if the situation presents itself, a brake check (we all know how those wild animals can be at times ).

I hear local govt's love to settle liability suits
