Since ya'll have much more experience with these cars than I do, I was hoping to tap into the collective wisdom to see what I need to look for. Went a looked at this car yesterday and here are a few of the specs:
-1965 convertible
-566 ci Merlin engine (receipts for $23K)
-Pioneer stereo, amp, CD changer, Ipod hook up ($2,300 receipts)
-Magnaflow exhaust
-Boyds 17" Junkyard Dog wheels, Toyo 235 and 215 tires
-5,000 miles since work was done in fall of 2006
-paint is great at 5' but definitely not show quality
-Vintage Air system
-top and interior done in 2006, decent but not perfect
-SSBC slotted rotors
-Tremec 5 speed
-Total receipts for everything done to the car were $83K
Issues:
-one headlight motor doesn't work
-car was backed into something and has cracked the rear fender on the lower edge and up under the bumper
-power windows work but the windows go up to about 1/2" of the top (doesn't seal)
-typical front stress cracks on the corners of the front fenders
-original engine (not tranny) may be available at extra cost but needs rebuilt
-Florida car so all the chrome and billet stuff needs buffed/polished/cleaned
This was all done on a quick inspection and I hope to go back and drive the car when the weather clears and the owner is back in town. Just wondered what a fair market value would be for this car and/or what should be investigated further.
