Well heck, do you think Matthew is going to loop around and take another swipe at the east coast of Florida? :ack2:

They're talking about a possible "mandatory evacuation" in my area.

Anybody know the legal ramifications of ignoring the evacuation order?

I'll just be damned if I leave.

Hold on .... I hear something at the front door ...

Looks like they are standing firm on the forecast track they came up with for the 5PM display...

Really not looking good for the entire east coast of Florida....

Anyone on the Atlantic coast probably should be planning on making a trip for a few days. 125 to 135 mph winds is nothing to take lightly. With as much widespread damage that is likely, it might be quite a while before things get back to normal.

There would be a shoot out of they tried to make me leave.

Well, if I were in the position of having to make a decision of a mandatory evacuation, I would state that you are officially ordered to leave because of my legal obligation to make such a recommendation. But if you don't, then don't call us if you change your mind. You made your decision on your own. Deal with it on your own. I will not potentially sacrifice my people because of YOUR bad choice.

That seems fair, doesn't it?

BTW, I'm trying to view the latest hurricane track via the Intellicast website, but they are saying:

There are currently no active tropical storms reported.

Yeah, right.... Matthew just went away, I suppose..... :face_palm_02:

They won't force you to leave but they may ask for next of kin information because they will not respond to calls for help during the storm as that would needlessly endanger first responders that warned you ahead of time.

there are no legal ramifications in staying. just don't plan on a rescue anytime soon.

that's because matthew isn't a tropical storm. it is a hurricane.

I read somewhere that in one area they asked people who were resisting the evacuation order to use the magic markers they were handed to write their social security number on their body so that their carcass could be easily identified after the storm. Wonder how many people changed their mind after thinking about what that meant?

Intellicast finally figured out there was actually a couple of hurricanes out there an are now showing the tracks.

Sure hope Matthew doesn't swing back around and decide to visit the Gulf of Mexico during it's trip.

Yeah, looks like we are likely going to get another visit from Matthew once it exits, stage north....

Matthew might not actually make landfall, but it sure as heck is really going to be messing up a lot of the Atlantic coast line.....

I don't know about it being a dud- :shrug01: - I came in a little while ago from securing my neighbor's uprooted tree from slamming through my lanai screen.
