Rain today

We got just over a tenth of an inch today (Friday). Chilly and dreary all day long. Temp is down to 36.7 degrees already at 12:06am Saturday. Looks like we have a few chilly nights ahead of us,

Not a drop here. What a nitemare it has been since the flood. I got good money for the flooded C7 from the Ins at least. Went back to a Bolt since the car is about free to drive.

Yeah, but be glad THAT wasn't in your garage when it flooded!

All i had to do was take the C7 across US19 and walk home. I will make sure i do that next time.
It heartbreaking, I know. When I was a deputy sheriff I worked several hurricanes both in my county and across the state of Florida. I was assigned the little town of Panacea during Danny in 2005 IIRC. I was told that high tide was at 1100 hours and I was monitoring Highway 98 all morning as the water was rising dramatically. I had two other deputies at the county line where the Ochlocknee River bridge was. I got down there in time to see the water take out Angelo's Restaurant, which was on pilings. Those two deputies got stranded out there on the bridge because the road leading back flooded.

At 1100 hours I saw bottles, cans and other debris floating across Highway 98 just north of Panacea. I thought to myself, good, high tide. It should start receding any time now. Twenty minutes later, I saw wooden fish boxes floating across the highway. Then an LP gas tank! I called my Captain an advised him that the water was still rising. He advised that they mistakenly were told that high tide was 1100 hours. It was actually 1700 hours. 5:00 in the afternoon! Big difference. In the end there was only about a half mile of highway that wasn't under water in the town. They totaled my patrol car after that storm. It got salt water in a wiring harness and wouldn't start several days later. It was only a year old. I believe we lost a total of 12 cars from that storm.

One resident who owned a restaurant on the water had just bought his wife a new Corvette convertible, beautiful blue with a white top! He lived right on the bay so he did have the sense to move it to the parking lot of the IGA. Well, he didn't see that coming either. It got a foot of salt water in it. Then it started blowing the horn, lights started flashing, etc. They had only had it for about six weeks. Bummer.

I got burnt out on hurricane duty. I live in Georgia now. I'm not in a flood zone and houses are much cheaper here. I'll pay the 5% state tax.

Quite a storm in the early morning hours up here. The wind and rain woke me up around 4 o'clock and that's unusual. I live in a two story, very well insulated house. Only got 1 1/2 of rain but I think it was blowing sideways so that's probably not accurate. And around 8 o'clock we got a lightning strike somewhere REAL CLOSE to the carport! I don't see any damage from inside the house but I'm not venturing out until this passes by.

Yeah, got 0.62" of rain here Sunday morning. Lots of thunder and lightning as well as an alert on the phone about a tornado warning.
